Pune-based fintech and brokerage startup Definedge has raised Rs 22 crore in a pre-Series A round, the company announced on September 22, 2026.
A company statement puts Definedge’s total funding raised at Rs 30 crore.
The earlier funding, a first institutional and angel round, closed in November 2025 and accounts for the other Rs 8 crore.
Existing backers Nitin Agarwal and D. Prasad joined the new round, alongside new investors Anant Jain and Sachin Kasera.
The November 2025 round drew Hemant Luthra, Ajay Srivastava, D. Prasad, Nitin Agarwal and Madhusudan N. Sarda.
Definedge will use the capital for margin funding, marketing, distribution, and products built with AI and automation. The startup will also grow its technology and operations.
Definedge runs more than 14 platforms across options analytics, technical analysis and algorithmic trading. Its products include Opstra, Zone, Algostra, Momentify and the Gurukul learning ecosystem.
Algostra is a no-code platform for building, testing and automating rule-based trading strategies. Momentify lets investors backtest systematic strategies before they deploy them.
The startup was founded by Prashant Shah and Rajesh Badiye. Shah is its co-founder and chief executive.
The firm began with investor education and market-analysis products before moving into full-service broking.
Momentify, a systematic investing product, has crossed Rs 1,000 crore in assets under management in about 15 months.
Over the next 24 months, Definedge is targeting Rs 5,000 crore in assets on the platform.
The startup opened about 60,000 demat accounts over the past 15 months without spending on marketing.
The user base at Definedge has grown 125% in 14 months and tenfold over 36 months.
Brokerage is now Definedge’s largest revenue stream. The startup also earns from premium subscriptions and its education business.
The company also plans to expand Gurukul, its learning programme for traders and investors.
Shah said the longer-term aim is to link research, trading, education and automation more closely.
The firm is applying for full GIFT City membership as it looks to expand abroad. GIFT City is India’s international finance hub in Gujarat. Its first target market is the US.
What this means for you: If you use Definedge’s trading tools, expect wider margin funding and faster updates to Momentify and Algostra over the coming months.
