  • STPI opened a 30,000 sq ft incubation centre in Dehradun on October 24, 2026.
  • Uttarakhand has more than 1,700 recognised startups that can use the space.
  • STPI’s NGIS scheme has given 17 Dehradun-linked startups Rs 4.25 crore in seed funding.

Software Technology Parks of India opened a 30,000 square foot startup incubation centre at IT Park on Sahastradhara Road in Dehradun on October 24, 2026.

The building sits across four floors. It adds to STPI’s older Dehradun site, which has about 19,533 square feet of built-up space and already houses several IT firms.

Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT Jitin Prasada opened the centre. Two Uttarakhand ministers, Pradeep Batra and Ganesh Joshi, were there with him.

The centre offers semi-furnished offices, high-speed internet, an air-conditioned floor, an auditorium, two meeting rooms, two conference rooms and a Network Operations Centre. STPI works under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Prasada said Uttarakhand’s more than 1,700 recognised startups could gain from better access to modern facilities and investors. He also pointed to the state’s plans for electronics manufacturing, including a cluster at Kashipur.

STPI has backed startups through its Next Generation Incubation Scheme. Of 52 startups picked through challenge rounds, 17 received seed funding of Rs 4.25 crore in all. More than 26 startups got stipends of Rs 90,000 each.

Dehradun is an education hub, and the state wants to turn that into an IT base beyond Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Uttarakhand IT Secretary Pankaj Pandey said the centre would support digital governance work that already runs about 1,000 services online.

“Our nationwide network can help businesses access mentorship, investors, industry connections and specialised technology expertise, including through Centres of Entrepreneurship.”

Arvind Kumar, Director General, STPI. From STPI’s inauguration statement, October 24, 2026.

What this means for you: If you run an early-stage IT or software startup in Uttarakhand, this is office space and mentorship close to home. Check STPI Dehradun for seats and NGIS eligibility before you commit to a metro address.
