Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, xAI, has successfully raised $6 billion in its Series C funding round. This substantial investment includes contributions from prominent investors such as Sequoia Capital, Morgan Stanley, and BlackRock. The infusion of capital aims to significantly enhance xAI’s computational resources, which are essential for developing advanced AI models. This funding round follows previous investments that valued xAI at $24 billion in May and $50 billion in November. Musk, who co-founded OpenAI and later departed, is positioning xAI to compete directly with his former company. The funds will be utilized to bolster xAI’s supercomputing capabilities, supporting the development of its latest chatbot version, Grok 3. Additionally, Musk is currently engaged in legal battles against OpenAI and Microsoft, alleging monopolistic practices in the AI market.
