StartupFeed Quick Take

  • BioStack funding: a $9.5 Mn seed round, led by Peak XV, announced on October 22, 2026.
  • The US startup, co-founded by Mumbai-born Sanat Mishra, has built a network of 100 million de-identified patient records.
  • The money pays for hiring and an India push, where BioStack is linking cancer patients to an investigational vaccine program.

BioStack, a US medical AI data startup co-founded by Mumbai-born Sanat Mishra, raised $9.5 Mn on October 22 in a seed round led by Peak XV.

Eight investors backed the round. The funding statement named Afore Capital, DCVC, Emerson Collective, SV Angel, Verdict Capital, Streamlined Ventures and Y Combinator alongside Peak XV.

The network already spans 100 million de-identified patient records across the US, India, Brazil and Argentina.

Several hundred thousand X-rays, MRIs and CT scans sit alongside several million telehealth audio transcripts, BioStack says.

Sanat Mishra, who runs BioStack, framed the pitch this way:

“We’re building the infrastructure that connects all of the clinical information and makes it useful.”

The product is plumbing for medical AI. BioStack pulls together the notes, lab results, scans, medicines and outcomes scattered across hospital systems. Personal details are stripped out, and the rest becomes training data for AI models.

The fresh money will pay for hiring across engineering and research, and for a push into new markets. India is one of them.

In India, BioStack is helping link cancer patients to an investigational vaccine program. The patients’ records can feed biotech research, and some may gain access to the experimental treatment.

From a single sales call, BioStack says it now serves 17 customers and prospects, including some of the top AI labs.

The data is the moat here, not the model.
