Quick Take

  • Nua raised $50 Mn (Rs 472 Cr) in a Series C led by Peak XV Partners and Filter Capital.
  • Its annualised revenue run rate grew fivefold, from Rs 100 crore to Rs 500 crore, in 24 months.
  • The round mixes fresh capital with secondary sales, giving Kae Capital and Lightbox VC partial exits.

Mumbai-based femtech brand Nua has raised $50 Mn, about Rs 472 crore, in a Series C round led by Peak XV Partners and Filter Capital. Femtech means technology and products built for women’s health.

The company’s annualised revenue run rate grew from Rs 100 crore to Rs 500 crore over 24 months, founder and chief executive Ravi Ramachandran said in the funding statement. That is a fivefold jump. Nua says it stayed profitable through that growth.

One number needs a caveat. Not all of the Rs 472 crore is new money for the business. Inc42 reports the round mixes primary capital with secondary sales. In a secondary sale, early backers sell their shares and the cash goes to them, not to the company.

Kae Capital, Lightbox VC and some existing angel investors sold part of their holdings, according to the funding statement. Existing investors Mirabilis Investment Trust and Footpath Ventures joined the round.

How big is the Nua Series C?

The Nua Series C is $50 Mn, or roughly Rs 472 crore. It is the company’s largest round to date. Before this, Nua had raised about $21.5 Mn across earlier rounds, per an Indian Startup News report from February 2025.

The round came in larger than first planned. Inc42 had reported months earlier that Nua was in talks to raise $20 Mn to $25 Mn, with Peak XV Partners leading. The final size roughly doubled that, because the secondary sales were added on top.

Peak XV Partners is the former Sequoia Capital India. Filter Capital is a Mumbai growth-stage fund. Both led the round together.

What will Nua do with the money?

Nua plans to spend the fresh capital on four things: brand building, wider distribution, research and development, and new products. The aim is a broader women’s wellness range.

Distribution is the clear priority. Nua sells across its own website, e-commerce marketplaces, quick commerce and offline retail. The pre-Series C in February 2025 was also raised for retail expansion, so this continues that push.

The product pipeline spans period care, maternity care and intimate care. Nua’s range includes sanitary pads, cramp-relief patches, intimate washes and period nutrition mixes.

How many customers does Nua have?

Nua serves more than 3 million women and girls every month, according to the company. It was founded in 2017 by Ravi Ramachandran and Abhishek Ramanathan.

The brand has also moved into digital tools. It recently launched the Nua Period Tracker App and a chat service called SecretKeeper. These sit alongside the physical products.

Actor Deepika Padukone is an early Nua investor and the face of the brand. She first backed the company in its Series A round.

Why does the Nua round matter?

The Nua round matters because profitable D2C funding is rare right now. Many direct-to-consumer brands burn cash to grow. Nua says it grew fivefold and stayed in profit, which is why marquee investors wrote large cheques.

It is also a big vote for femtech in India. The category has long been underfunded. A $50 Mn round in women’s wellness is a signal to other founders in the space.

The size jump is the tell. Investors doubled a planned $25 Mn round to $50 Mn. That does not happen for a business the backers are unsure about.

StartupFeed Insight

Read the headline carefully. The story here is not $50 Mn of fuel poured into Nua. A chunk of it is secondary, cash that goes to Kae Capital, Lightbox VC and angels who are cashing out after nine years. That is normal at this stage, and it matters for how you read the round. The real growth signal is the run rate: Rs 100 crore to Rs 500 crore in 24 months, while profitable. That combination, not the dollar figure, is what pulled Peak XV and Filter Capital in and doubled the round. Watch distribution next. The money is aimed at quick commerce and offline shelves, where Nua meets FirstCry, mainstream FMCG pads and every chemist. Expect Nua to announce a retail-footprint or new-category milestone by the middle of 2027.

What this means for you: If you run a D2C brand, the lesson is blunt. Profit plus a clean growth multiple now raises more than growth alone, and it lets you double your ask.
