India and Denmark met in Copenhagen to widen cooperation on MSMEs, innovation and technology. The talks took place at the fourth Joint Working Group meeting between the two countries.

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises shared the update. The Indian side worked with the Danish Patent and Trademark Office, known as DKPTO. MSME stands for micro, small and medium enterprises.

The meeting backed innovation, technology and IP-led growth for MSMEs, the Ministry said in a post on X. Both sides also agreed to deepen bilateral ties.

On day three, the delegation met Denmark’s Ministry of Business and Competitive Affairs. They swapped views on business development and the SME ecosystem.

The Indian team also joined the closing panel of TechBBQ, a Nordic startup event. Dr Rajneesh, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner at the Ministry of MSME, sat on that panel. Maria Skou, Deputy Director General and Chief Operating Officer of DKPTO, joined him.

Earlier in the visit, the delegation went to Aarhus University’s Innovation “Kitchen” and Agro Food Park. The goal was to study how Denmark runs startup mentoring, fundraising and industry-academia links. India shared its own record on cluster-based MSME growth.

The two countries have been building closer economic ties for years. They set up a Green Strategic Partnership in 2020. It covers trade, investment, innovation and cooperation on small and medium firms.

Trade numbers show why this matters. Goods trade between India and Denmark reached USD 2.05 billion in 2025. Services trade was higher, at USD 4.25 billion.

The company footprint runs both ways. About 200 Danish companies have invested in India. Around 40 Indian companies now operate in Denmark.

MSMEs are a large part of India’s economy. They make up 31.1% of GDP, 35.4% of manufacturing output and 48.58% of exports, according to the Economic Survey 2025-26. That export share is the number to watch here.

What this means for you: If you run an MSME in agritech, clean-tech or IP-heavy manufacturing, Denmark is opening doors worth tracking for future funding and partners.
