  • Rs 4.8 crore pre-Series A, led by Mudhal Partners, the fund of Zoho co-founder Kumar Vembu.
  • Total funding now about Rs 9 crore across debt and equity; no valuation disclosed.
  • Money will grow B-Arm’s women’s health range; the brand holds more than 10 patents.

B-Arm Medical Technologies, a women’s health startup in Coimbatore, has raised Rs 4.8 crore in a pre-Series A round led by Mudhal Partners.

Mudhal Partners is the investment firm of Kumar Vembu, a co-founder of Zoho. Announced on October 10, the round also drew several high net worth individuals.

Indian Startup News reports the round takes B-Arm’s total funding to about Rs 9 crore across debt and equity. Neither the valuation nor the stake was disclosed.

Women’s health is the core business. The startup sells products for women at every life stage, from trying to conceive through pregnancy, postpartum recovery and breastfeeding to menopause.

On its website, B-Arm puts the community at more than 2,00,000 women.

Sruthi Sri, who heads products at B-Arm, ties the brand to her own experience:

“As a mother of three and a biomedical engineer, I’ve experienced many of the challenges women silently accept.”

Beyond women’s health, the range covers pulmonology and occupational therapy, including items for children with autism and speech problems. The brand holds more than 10 patents.

Television first gave B-Arm a mass audience. The brand was named a Top Ten startup on Startup Singam, a pitch show on Vijay Television streamed on JioHotstar. Judges picked B-Arm from about 3,000 entries in the show’s second season.

The fresh capital will fund expansion, new products and brand building, B-Arm has said, with the next phase aimed at its women’s health business.

SruthiSri Chandrasekaran co-founded B-Arm with her husband, Barath Ram Viswanathan Rajendran, and Sriram Kothandaraman. She and Barath Ram are both biomedical engineers.

What this means for you: If you are building a consumer health or women’s health brand outside the metros, this round shows a marquee angel will back that bet. Watch B-Arm’s next phase, funded by Rs 4.8 crore, to see how fast a reality-show brand turns attention into repeat sales.
