Spacetech startup InspeCity has raised Rs 100 crore in a pre-Series A round co-led by investor Ashish Kacholia and Speciale Invest. The round is worth about $10.4 Mn.
Antler India and Shastra VC also joined, along with existing backers and angel investors. InspeCity is based in Thane, Maharashtra.
The round is more than double the company’s last raise. InspeCity picked up $5.6 Mn in seed funding last year, in a round also led by Kacholia. That works out to around Rs 46 crore.
The company will use the money to fly four in-orbit missions over the next 12 to 18 months. It also plans to expand its team.
InspeCity was founded in 2022 by Arindrajit Chowdhury and Tausif Shaikh. Chowdhury is a professor at IIT Bombay, where the startup was incubated. It builds technology to service and de-orbit satellites already in space.
Its product stack has four parts. GITA handles spacecraft propulsion, CHAKSU handles sensing and proximity work, RAMA handles robotic manipulation, and SPARSH handles docking and in-orbit fuel transfer.
Chowdhury told Inc42 the company will focus on three areas. These are government-backed research projects, the coming missions, and turning its propulsion system into a finished product.
He said InspeCity has finished functional and environmental testing of that propulsion system. It has also cleared checks from ISRO labs. The next step is to fit the system to a satellite and fly it.
The raise lands as money pours into Indian spacetech. In May 2026 Skyroot Aerospace became India’s first spacetech unicorn after a $60 Mn round. GalaxEye raised Rs 44.2 crore in April, and Bellatrix Aerospace secured $20 Mn the same month. India’s space economy is projected to reach $44 Bn by 2033.
What this means for you: Deep-tech founders now have fresh proof that hardware-heavy Indian startups can raise real growth capital, with a repeat lead investor backing the same team twice.
