Quick Take

  • Godrej Industries Group will invest about Rs 20,000 crore in Haryana under a new MoU.
  • Godrej Ventures will spend Rs 3,500 crore on office space in Gurugram.
  • The plan could create around 40,000 jobs across the group’s businesses.

Godrej Industries Group will invest about Rs 20,000 crore in Haryana. The group signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government on Monday. The plan could create around 40,000 jobs.

The deal was signed before Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. It builds on money the group has already put into the state.

Godrej Industries Group has invested about Rs 12,000 crore in Haryana so far. It employs around 9,000 people there today.

Who is driving the investment?

Real estate is the engine of this plan. Godrej Properties will drive most of the new spending.

Godrej Properties will invest a further Rs 16,000 crore in Haryana by fiscal 2028. That takes its total in the state to about Rs 27,000 crore.

What does the Gurugram office plan mean?

One number matters most for founders. Godrej Ventures, the group’s real estate private equity arm, plans to spend Rs 3,500 crore on office space in Gurugram. That is fresh Grade-A supply in the National Capital Region’s main startup hub.

The group posted revenue of $7.2 billion in fiscal 2026. Pirojsha Godrej is chairperson of Godrej Industries Group.

Pirojsha Godrej called Haryana an important growth driver for the group. He said the group sees the region as a market to invest in for the long term.

Why Gurugram?

The office bet lands on Gurugram for a reason. The city is the largest commercial hub in the National Capital Region. It holds the head offices of many Indian startups.

New Grade-A stock in Gurugram shapes rents. Rents shape where young firms choose to sit.

Where else Godrej operates in Haryana

Godrej Properties runs 18 projects in Haryana today. They span Gurugram, Sonipat, Faridabad, Panipat and Kurukshetra. The firm says future projects could create more than 11,000 jobs.

The wider group is spread across the state too. Godrej Capital runs five branches in Haryana. It has facilitated about Rs 550 crore in bookings there.

Godrej Consumer Products works with 42 direct distributors in Haryana. It also uses more than 250 rural stockists in the state.

What this means for you: if you run a startup in the National Capital Region, watch Gurugram office rents over the next two years. A Rs 3,500 crore supply push could ease the squeeze on Grade-A space.

StartupFeed Insight

Strip away the Rs 20,000 crore headline and the number that matters to founders is Rs 3,500 crore. That is what Godrej Ventures will put into Gurugram office space, in a market where most NCR startups already sit. Grade-A supply has been tight and rents have climbed. Fresh stock over the next two years could give growing teams room to negotiate. Watch for the first project announcements by fiscal 2028. If Godrej Properties moves fast, the rent relief could arrive sooner in Sonipat and Faridabad than in central Gurugram, where demand stays hottest.
