Evening Watch for Friday, 9 October 2026, brings three updates from India’s IPO, beauty and automotive startup sectors.
1. Jio IPO price range points to Rs 30,200 Cr issue
Jio Platforms is targeting a valuation of Rs 10.3 lakh crore, Reuters reported on 9 October, citing four bankers working on its IPO. They put the expected price range at Rs 1,065 to Rs 1,119 a share. At the upper end, the sale could raise about Rs 30,200 Cr. Reliance Industries had not confirmed the price range when Reuters published its report.
StartupFeed’s 5 October article cited an earlier estimate of $3.8 billion for the same IPO. Reuters now puts the possible proceeds at about $3.1 billion. The reported terms may change before the final offer documents appear.
Who should care: Prospective investors should use the final offer documents to check the price, dates and issue size before applying.
2. BEAUTY&YOU India names 14 finalists
The Estée Lauder Companies, Nykaa and Startup India named 14 BEAUTY&YOU India finalists on 9 October. Their announcement lists four categories: GROW, IMAGINE, BREAKTHROUGH and the new DESIGN award. The finalists include haircare brand 3TENX, skincare concept Neothera and fragrance innovator Ananthara Biotech.
Winners are due to be announced on 10 October after the finalists present in Mumbai. They will compete for support from a prize pool of up to $500,000. That figure is the total pool, not an award promised to each finalist.
Who should care: Indian beauty founders can watch which products win distribution and mentoring support alongside the awards.
3. JSW MG Motor selects eight startups for pilots
JSW MG Motor India selected eight winners for Season 6.0 of its Developer Program, Inc42 reported on 9 October. They are Nayan Technologies, Technod8.AI, LiveNSense, LW3, Smaartbrand by Acquink Solutions, Fitsol, Cautio and Meta Materials Circular Market.
The companies work on road intelligence, industrial AI, battery supply chains, fleet technology and sustainability. MG’s program offers selected teams a chance to develop or test solutions with the carmaker and its partners. A selection does not mean every pilot is already running.
Who should care: Mobility and manufacturing founders can track which of the eight teams moves from selection to a working deployment.
That’s all for this evening. See you tomorrow morning.
